The much awaited event in fashion finally took place on the 13th of September, 2021 after one and a half years. One of the biggest nights in the fraternity, the Met Gala 2021 or the Met Ball is an annual fundraising event conducted for the benefit of Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York. Like every year, it was quite a turnout at the star studded evening.
The endless red carpet ascending the museum’s transom at the Fifth avenue, deluged with camera flashes, media bites, and press outlets, saw a number of prominent names and global sensations. Amid them present was Hyderabad’s socialite and philanthropist Sudha Reddy, the only Indian to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala 2021. She debuted at the event in a Falguni Shane Peacock coruscating gold ensemble.
The theme of the Met Gala 2021 was In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. The outfit picked by Reddy was tailed by a four metre train boasting an illustration of the American flag. The elaborate train was crafted with numerous sequins and other adornments. The train was fastened to a gold, jeweled evening gown with a slit. The sleeveless gown featured strings of golden chains dangling from the shoulder. The train of the ensemble was adorned with signature feather details.
With her tresses swept up in a sleek and suave updo, the socialite sported an elaborate, ear-ring featuring a symbolically knitted cluster of stars. She also chose to pair a clutch illustrating the face of the Hindu God, Ganesha.
